Long Day Pays Off for Codi Harder

It was a long day but it produce some awesome results for Navarro FFAs Codi Harder. Starting the day off showing the Division 3 Reserve Champion Goat, Codi was just getting warmed up. Following the goat show Codi worked her way to the top of the judges list with her Medium Wool to win the 2018 GCYS Grand Champion Lamb.

Jazmine Missildine from the Seguin 4-H knows the rewards of hard work too. She started off the day like Codi, showing goats, in fact she showed the 2018 Reserve Champion Goat and ended the day with the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb.

Congratulations to both of these hard working young ladies who did a great job preparing for the show and exhibiting their animals.

Despite the Cold Marion FFA Off to Hot Start!

The cold weather has not slowed down the Marion FFA, on Thursday afternoon Marion FFA member Carlie Alvarado exhibited the Grand Champion Goat.  Carlie joins fellow Marion FFA members Kyla Beck and Jake Schultze in the Grand Champion Circle to get Marion FFA off to a hot start at the 2018 GCYS.

Jazmine Missldine of the Seguin 4-H did an awesome job of presenting her Division 2 goat taking home the Reserve Grand Champion honor.  Complete goat results can be found on the Results 2018 page or simply click here.

Kyla Beck Exhibits 2018 Grand Champion Steer

For years the GCYS Cattle Show was held on the dance slab but in recent years it returned to the rodeo arena allowing for a bigger and easier place to show cattle.  This year due to the cold weather the decision was made to move the cattle show back on the dance slab to provide a more comfortable environment for exhibitors, spectators and animals.

That decision seemed to sit well with Kyla Beck from the Marion FFA when her heavy weight exotic steer was named the 2018 Grand Champion Steer by judge Wade Shackelford.  Joining Kyla with a positive attitude about the move back to the dance slab was fellow Marion FFA member Dylan Reiley who took the honor of 2018 Reserve Grand Champion with his American steer.

GCYS 2018 Poultry Results

It was a cold start to the 2018 GCYS but it produced some exciting results for Navarro 4-H member Kelton Wolters who took home the Grand Champion Turkey honors.  Kade Pape from the New Berlin 4-H showed the Reserve Grand Champion Turkey.  Kelton exhibited both the Champion Turkey Tom and Hen at this years show, congratulations to both of these showmen.

In the Broiler Division, Grand Champion honors went to Marion FFA member Jake Schultze, Jake also exhibited the Champion Pen of Cockerels with Matthew Marek from the St James 4-H exhibiting the Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Broiler. Grace Marek also from the St James 4-H showed the Champion Pullets while Kendyl Zunker representing the Marion FFA had the Reserve Champion Pullets.
